The Eastside Community Center's Senior Programs offers billiards gatherings on Monday through Friday. Come out and join us for some friendly competition! Ages 50+ are welcome.

Billiards - Munson

Lapidary and Silver Jewelry Open Lab

The lapidary and silver jewelry open lab at the Munson Senior Center provides seniors with the opportunity to learn about and work with lapidary and silver jewelry-making techniques. Certification is required to participate in the open lab, and seniors can use the space to learn new techniques, work on projects, and socialize with other seniors who share an interest in these crafts. The open lab is a great way for seniors to stay active and engaged in their community.

Crocheting

Senior Programs crocheting gatherings are a fun and social way to learn a new skill. Every Tuesday and Thursday, participants gather in the Eastside Community Center Classroom to learn from each other and make new friends. This event is open to all levels of crocheters, so don't be afraid to come join us even if you're a beginner!

Quilting

The quilting gathering at the Munson Senior Center is a great opportunity for seniors to get together and socialize while working on a fun project. Participants can learn from each other, share tips and tricks, and enjoy some friendly competition. The finished quilts make beautiful display pieces and can be enjoyed for years to come.

Mah Jongg

Mah Jongg is a tile-based game that originated in China. It is similar to the game of Rummy, and players draw and discard tiles until they can form sets and runs. The goal of the game is to be the first player to remove all of their tiles from their hand. Mah Jongg is a fun and challenging game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Senior Programs Advisory Board Meeting - CANCELLED

The Senior Programs Advisory Board (SPAB) consists of seven members appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council, and site members selected by Senior Programs participants as a representative of each senior program site and appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council.

Game Day

The Munson Senior Center offers a Game Day activity for seniors. On this day, seniors can come and play games such as bingo, cards, and puzzles. This is a great opportunity for seniors to socialize and have some fun.

Tai Chi for Beginners

The Tai Chi Chuan form comprises a series of slow movements flowing from one to the next. Tai Chi was created to improve health, meditation, and self-defense. The movements are done slowly and calmly. The emphasis is on relaxation, correct posture, and the efficient use of muscles. Studies have shown that Tai Chi can help lower blood pressure and improve balance, coordination, and flexibility. It teaches stress management and basic self-defense, and conflict management skills. The class will be learning Professor Cheng Man-Ching’s 37-posture Tai Chi Chuan form. The instructor, Steven Haydu, has over thirty years of experience practicing and teaching Tai Chi Chuan.
