Listen to Your Art

Lisa Miller will present Clara Peeters and the Art of Still-life. She is a Professor of Art and Faculty Coordinator at El Paso Community College, Transmountain Campus. Ms. Miller's previous teaching appointments include being an Adjunct Art Faculty at New Mexico State University and Dona Ana Community College. She was also a Museum Curator and Museum School Instructor for the Branigan Cultural Center. Ms. Miller's artwork has been featured in local and regional exhibitions across Texas and New Mexico. Clara Peeters was a Flemish still-life painter from Antwerp, Belgium, who worked in both the Spanish Netherlands and Dutch Republic during the early seventeenth-century. She is the best-known female Flemish artist of this era and one of the few women artists working professionally in seventeenth-century Europe, despite restrictions on women's access to artistic training and membership in guilds. Peeters specialized in still-life paintings focusing on breakfast pieces and banquet piece

Noche de Fiesta

“Noche de Fiesta” is scheduled for Friday, September 16 at the Museum of Art, from 4:30-6pm. In celebration of Diez y Sies, this event features the El Paso Latin jazz quartet Footprints and gallery talks by two artists included in the exhibit.

Wood Carving

The wood carving gathering event is a great way for seniors to get together and socialize. They can share their skills and learn from each other while carving beautiful pieces of wood. There is always a lot of laughter and conversation, making it a fun and enjoyable event for everyone involved.

Horseshoes

The horseshoes activity at the Munson Senior Center is a great way for seniors to stay active and have fun. The horseshoes are set up in a court-like setting, and participants take turns trying to toss the horseshoes onto the metal stake. This activity is a great way to improve hand-eye coordination and dexterity.

Mosaic and Gourds Open Studio

The mosaic making and gourd painting open studio time at the Munson Senior Center provides seniors with a fun and creative outlet to express themselves. In the mosaic studio, participants can choose from a variety of materials to create their masterpiece, while the gourd painting studio offers a range of paints and brushes to help bring life to these unique fruits. Whether someone is a seasoned artist or a complete novice, there is something for everyone at the Munson Senior Center open studios.

Painting Open Studio

Seniors can come to the Munson Senior Center to enjoy some time painting in a relaxed and supportive environment. There is no instruction provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own supplies or work on projects that are provided. This is a great opportunity for seniors to explore their creative side and socialize with others who share their interest in art.

Stained Glass Open Lab

The stained glass open lab at the Munson Senior Center provides seniors with the opportunity to create stained glass projects. The lab is equipped with all of the necessary tools and supplies, and a staff member is available to provide assistance if needed.

National Play-Doh Day Celebration

It's National Play-Doh Day! Join the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library for some hands-on Play-Doh fun. Our morning session will provide your littles ones with time to explore texture, colors, and shapes with Play-Doh. This session is fitting to children 2-5 years old with their caregivers.

Our afternoon session will provide school-aged children the opportunity to learn about the history of Play-Doh while we try some challenges, mixing, and Play-Doh art. This event is for children 6-10 years of age.
