Senior Services

Senior Programs provides Home Care, Respite Care, and Grandparents Raising Grandchildren services to seniors in our community. Senior Programs is dedicated to providing high-quality services that meet the unique needs of each senior we serve.

Case Management

Senior Programs utilizes a collaborative process to assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the services required to meet the needs of individual seniors, as well as to identify and connect seniors to other resources in the community. Call to be connected to a case manager for help with issues like housing needs, food security, or assistive devices.

Home Care

Senior Programs provides Home Care services to its senior citizens in order to improve their quality of life and promote self-sufficiency. Services provided include light housekeeping, basic meal preparation, some shopping, money management, making phone calls, running errands, and providing occasional local transportation. This allows seniors to maintain their independence and dignity while living in their own homes. Administering medications, dressing wounds, personal care, or any other type of nursing or medical care are not provided by City staff.

Respite Care

Respite Care provides relief to the caregivers of seniors who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or a related disorder. By providing a qualified professional to relieve the caregiver for up to 4-hours once per week, Respite Care allows the caregiver to take a break and recharge their batteries. This respite allows for better caregiving in the long run, as well as a better quality of life for both the caregiver and the senior.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program offers free information and referral, a support group and presentations designed for grandparents as caregivers as well as supplemental services. This invaluable program provides seniors in our community with the support they need to raise their grandchildren successfully. The program offers a variety of resources, including information on how to access government benefits, how to navigate the child welfare system, and how to deal with difficult behaviors. The program also provides presentations on topics such as healthy eating, positive discipline, and dealing with stress. These resources are essential for helping grandparents to feel confident in their role as caregivers. The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program also connects grandparents with other caregivers in their community, providing them with valuable support and networking opportunities.

Grandparents aged 55 and older who serve as primary caregiver to their grandchildren are eligible for this group.
