Sustainability

The Sustainability Action Plan adopted by the City Council creates a common vision of and direction for sustainability with City staff and residents including ways to measure progress. This modern and progressive plan uses the Triple Bottom Line (economic viability, environmental health and social responsibility) combined with the themes of nature involving energy, water, materials and community.

Septic System Proposal

The City of Las Cruces’ Septic Tank Identification and Prioritization Plan (PDF) identifies 1,880 parcels located within the city limits that are on septic tank systems not served by the City’s wastewater collection and treatment system. Removal of septic tanks within the city limits aids in groundwater protection by eliminating the possible contamination of ground water by household wastes. The plan outlines details and gives information on how parcels are prioritized for sewer hook-up.
